Thirty-Three-Year-Old Joins To Add Structure To Club’s Grassroots Development Program
Bengaluru FC on Wednesday announced the appointment of AFC ‘A’ Licensed Youth Coach Suhel Nair as the Technical Head of BFC Soccer Schools and Grassroots Development. The 33-year-old takes over from John Kenneth Raj, who has held the post for the last 18 months. A former player himself, Suhel has been coaching at various age group levels across the country for the last five years.
“Suhel comes with experience of dealing with youngsters at various platforms across the country and we are happy to bring him on board here at Bengaluru FC. Through him, we hope to add more structure to our Youth Development and I am certain his guidance will help more children from our BFC Soccer Schools and Academy teams progress through the ranks and move closer to the club’s first team,” said club CEO Mandar Tamhane.
A brief career as a professional saw Suhel turn out for clubs in Mumbai and Kerala, before making the move to coaching in early 2014. He also holds a Masters Degree in Sociology along with a Degree in Physical Education and is an ‘E’ Licensed Coach Educator with the All India Football Federation (AIFF), tasked with delivering a Grassroots Coaching Program to coaches across the country.
“It is an honour for me to be associated with a club like Bengaluru FC. As the Technical Head of BFC Soccer Schools and Grassroots Development, the aim for me is to deliver the best footballing experience to all the kids enrolled in the BFC Soccer Schools programme. I am looking forward to working closely with our talented coaches to reinforce the best practices that are prevalent across the world. The ultimate goal for me will always be to help the players climb the ladder from BFC Soccer Schools through the Academy and into the first team,” said Suhel.
Bengaluru FC Soccer Schools resumed operations in as many as seven centres across the city, and you can register for a trial class on soccerschools.bengalurufc.com.
