Young Blues Claim Wins Over Muthoot FA And Football+ FA U14s
Coimbatore: Bengaluru FC’s U13s began their International Cup of Joy campaign with wins over Muthoot FA and Football+ FA U14s, at the Nehru Ground, in Coimbatore, on Thursday. While the first clash saw the Young Blues claim a convincing 3-0 win over Muthoot FA, the developmental side went on to defeat Football+ FA 2-1 in their second fixture.
Gautam Rajesh, Roshan Lalbuktongbam and Vinith V. found their names on the scoresheet against Muthoot FA in a game that Bengaluru controlled from start to finish. Perhaps the best of the lot, Rajesh found the Young Blues’ opener, collecting a pass in midfield and driving forward before unleashing an unstoppable left-footed shot that found its way into the top-corner from over 20 yards out.
Roshan joined the act with a shot from the top of the box that shook the net, going in off the post in the 56th minute before turning provider with a corner two minutes later, that second half substitute Vinith headed home without fuss.
Mani’s side carried the momentum forward into their second game and took just 12 minutes to open the scoring with Yodhin scoring the first of the evening with a low drive from inside the area. Five minutes later, a spectacular effort saw Roshan curl his corner straight into goal past a hapless Football+ ’keeper to double the lead. Football+ striker Hayden scored a goal late in the second half, which was to be a consolation.
“I’m very happy with the way we approached both games. These boys showed a lot of determination to play so well, considering we played two games in the space of six hours. Fitness is key in tournaments like these and I’m sure they will rest well and perform at the same level in the coming games,” said Rajan Mani following the game.
The Bengaluru FC U13s take on Real Sparsh FA in their third clash of the 2018 International Cup of Joy, at the Nehru Ground on Friday, 20th July 2018.
