Kids from all over the city represented their respective branches in a high octane football competition at the Bangalore Football Stadium
Bengaluru: With over 150 children participating, the Bengaluru FC Soccer Schools hosted an Inter Soccer Schools football tournament at the Bangalore Football stadium on Sunday, in Bengaluru. With multiple teams in the U10, U12 and U14 category, the students put on a display of sheer skill and quality as coaches and close to 100 parents watched from the pavilion.
In a league cum knockout format, the tournament was dominated by the Hennur and Bellandur branches with the former winning in the U10 as well as U14 categories. Students of the Bellandur branch picked up the winners medal in an intense clash against Mathikere in the final of the U12 category.
“The tournament was indeed an exciting event, as it allows the children to showcase what they have learnt over sessions. Sports is the only means through which children can learn and experience the importance of teamwork and leadership,” said Commander K N Bhat, father of Kishan Bhat who attends the Mathikere branch.
Individual awards were bestowed upon some of the players who shone on the pitch. Dhruv M, Sanjit Dinesh and Varun Ekan were recognised as the top scorers in their respective categories meanwhile, Yann Mathai, Abyudh and Shane Mathias were presented with the players of the tournament. Chinmay and Vikram were given the golden glove award for the U12 and U14 category.
The Bangalore football stadium came to life as the kids and parents cheered for their branch mates while some of the students even inspired the parents to ask for a Soccer Schools Parents tournament. “Overall I am very happy with the way the Soccer Schools are organised and I’m glad that my son is under the care of some very good coaches at the soccer school” said Mr. Thangavel, father of Varun.
