Young Footballers From BFC Soccer Schools And Academy Take To The Pitch At Kanteerava Stadium For Grassroots Festival Held Across Five Age Categories
Bengaluru: Over 200 children of the BFC Soccer Schools and Youth Academy were part of the AFC Grassroots Festival, which was held across five age categories at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium, in Bengaluru, on Saturday. With the ground divided into parts, children were put through a mini-football tournament in three age groups in a league and knockout format.
The BFC Academy emerged victorious in all three categories as they beat Marathahalli in the U10 category, Bellandur in the U13 category and the children from Clarence School, Cox Town at the U16 level.
Young Blues Arjun Manoj (U10), Vikram Jeet Singh, (U13), and Ralph Rajamati (U16) from the BFC Soccer Schools were awarded for their performances on the pitch.
“After joining BFC my son’s progress has been very good. We have seen progress in his skill set and all-round development in the sport. He was excited to play at the Kanteerava stadium. It was a good experience and exposure for him as he got to play with other players from the BFC family,” said Darshana Anilkumar, mother of Aryan.
The children were also put through multiple drills in passing, receiving, dribbling, shooting as the Grassroots Day was observed by 12 coaches and eight administration staff who manned 8 stations. The program was overseen by the BFC Academy coaches Louis Nickson, Govardhan Gowda and Hason Khaleeli.
“Agasthya never wants to miss the Soccer Schools classes. He has learnt team work, accepting wins and defeats in a positive manner and was very excited from the day he came to know that he is going to play at the Kanteerava. He enjoyed it and has been waiting for his next chance to play there ever since,” said Chaithra Kiran, another parent.
